Dr Andrew Li has dedicated more than 25 years of his professional life to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of skin cancer in Australia. During his career, he has cared for tens of thousands of patients and has remained committed to maintaining high standards of clinical care while striving to achieve the best possible medical and cosmetic outcomes for every patient. Through many years of practising skin cancer medicine, Dr Li developed a particular interest in Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)—an established treatment for certain precancerous skin conditions and sun-damaged skin. He recognised that, in almost all selected patients, PDT could offer an important additional benefit: improvement in the appearance and quality of the skin while treating underlying sun damage and precancerous changes. Over the past decade, Dr Li has continued to refine his approach to PDT, combining his extensive experience in skin cancer medicine with his training in aesthetic medicine. This integrated approach may benefit appropriately selected patients seeking treatment for sun-damaged skin, precancerous skin changes and certain other skin conditions, while also aiming to improve skin tone, texture and overall appearance. Dr Li believes that the future of skin cancer medicine should not focus solely on treating individual cancers after they develop. Where appropriate, greater emphasis should also be placed on early detection, prevention, management of sun-damaged skin and achieving the best possible cosmetic outcome. After obtaining his Australian medical qualifications in 1996, Dr Li gained extensive clinical experience at several major Sydney teaching hospitals, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney Children's Hospital and St George Hospital. He subsequently undertook specialist training in General Practice and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2004. In the same year, Dr Li established his first medical centre in Lane Cove, where he began private practice combining general practice with skin cancer medicine. As his interest in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment continued to develop, Dr Li undertook further training with the Skin Cancer College Australasia and was awarded the Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery (Dip SCCA) in 2010. He subsequently focused increasingly on skin cancer medicine in his Drummoyne practice. Recognising the importance of cosmetic outcomes in the treatment of skin cancer and sun-damaged skin, Dr Li pursued further training in aesthetic medicine and obtained certification from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) in 2017. By combining his extensive experience in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment with his knowledge of Photodynamic Therapy, aesthetic medicine and laser technology, Dr Li aims to provide a comprehensive approach that considers not only existing skin disease but also sun damage, future skin cancer risk and the overall health and appearance of the skin. This philosophy forms the foundation of the Skin Cancer Laser Centre—bringing together skin cancer detection, treatment and prevention with modern laser and aesthetic technologies, with the aim of achieving healthy, natural-looking skin. Dr Li also has extensive experience in male circumcision and has performed thousands of circumcision procedures in Australia over many years. His approach places particular emphasis on patient safety, careful surgical technique, comfort and cosmetic outcome. His extensive procedural experience enables him to provide patients and families with clear information, careful assessment and individualised care.

With a strong foundation in medical and biological sciences, I have cultivated a particular passion for the skin—the body's largest and most complex organ. Over the past five years at Drummoyne Cosmetic and Skin Cancer Clinic in Sydney, I have honed my expertise through hands-on experience, complemented by recurrent professional training at the Australian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science. My practice reflects a commitment to combining scientific knowledge with cutting-edge technology to achieve optimal skin health and aesthetic outcomes.
